Worker Acknowledgement

Before commencing work, all workers must read, understand, and acknowledge the Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS).

Why this works this way

The WHS Act (s.47–49, plus the duty to provide information and instruction in s.19(3)(f)) requires that workers doing the work are consulted, informed, and instructed on it. Requiring every worker to acknowledge the SWMS before starting is how the app evidences that duty was met, and the record is kept as your audit trail.

Acknowledging a SWMS

Workers are presented with the complete SWMS, outlining the high-risk work, identified hazards, and required control measures. They must review this information to ensure they understand the safety requirements for the task.

Signature Capture

To formalize their acknowledgement, workers provide a digital signature.

They can sign directly on the screen using a mouse on a computer or their finger/stylus on a mobile device. This signature is captured and securely stored as part of the SWMS record, providing a clear audit trail of worker compliance.
